About the Set Theme:
The Queen's Thief is a young adult fantasy series by Megan Whalen Turner. To describe the plot would give too much away, I fear, but I highly rec this Greece/Byzantium-inspired series. Great characters, great world-building, great myth-building. Also I like to call the third book "The Sorrows of Young Steiner," as the focal character in that one is very much how I'd imagine Steiner as youngin'.
Death Be Not Proud is a memoir written by a father about his dying son. I had to read this back in ... seventh grade? Anyway, the book got me into John Donne, as it is named for and includes his "Holy Sonnet X."
He's Just Not That Into You is one of those horrible self help books that was turned into a horrible movie and I'm a horrible person for including this but I can't pass up a horrible joke.
City of the Beast is a pulpy sci-fi fantasy thing by Michael Moorcock, the king of such things.
The Hungry Thing is an adorable picture book from my youth. A silly monster with a sign around its neck that reads "FEED ME" shows up to town and starts demanding strange-sounding foods. It teaches kids about rhyming \o/
- As usual for my contest/challenge entries, credit is required for these! (and please don't use them as bases) If that chuffs you, know that I have a butt-ton of credit-free bases in other entries.
